Found a new home for my blog and thought it fitting that I make my new post here about my work in affordable housing. I've been fortunate to work with one of the premier developers in California for over a decade.
In 2018 over seven thousand residents of San Francisco's Mission District were helped by the Mission Economic Development Agency. MEDA provides financial literacy trainig, a cradle to college to career initiative, affordable housing and community advocacy. More photos here and you can see the whole report in flip format here.
It's been three or four years since I started flying - really flying a camera around. I can shoot video and still, and am fully licensed and insured.
I feel like Sebastiao Salgado when I shoot construction images - well maybe not quite - but I can dream right?
Glide has been serving San Francisco's most vulnerable residents for over 50 years. That help is even more essential during this Covid-19 pandemic.
CCSF is where young folks go to make their dreams real. FreeCity provides their education at no charge and the staff are devoted to their students. Happy to help with their new website. https://www.ccsf.edu
Glide's frontline workers are out there everyday proving meals, housing, HARM Reduction services, counseling and love, lots of love.
Glide is providing thousands of hot and nutritious meals to San francisco's most desperate residents. Many are camped out with their belongings on the cold streets, others are lucky enough to be able to stay in a shelter or SRO hotel. Many have substance abuse issues or mental health challenges all of them are accepted unconditionally at Glide.
Just a fun picture from Alameda's Pride Celebration. Yes this was pre-pandemic!
I've been fortunate to work with Eden Housing for many years, you can see more of my work on their website here: edenhousing.org
The Jewish Home offers all inlusive care for San Francisco's elders. I've been fortunate to wrok with them for over fifteen years.
Glide continues to serve San Francisco's most marginalized individuals and families. I'm happy to help with their outreach and fundrasing efforts.
I've been fortunate to work with KQED and Speaker Nancy Pelosi and today the Speaker apperared on alive taping of KQED's Forum. The next morning at San Francisco's Transbay Terminal she promoted President Biden's Build Back Better infrastructure plan.
There have been many changes at Glide during the Pandemic including a seperation from the Methodist Church, the death of beloved co-founder Janice Mirikitani and just recently the depature of Glide's CEO and President Karen Hanrahan. The Center for Social Justice is making huge progress including spearheading the movemnet to ban racially motivated trafic stops in San Francisco. And Glide's Meals pogram continues to serve three meals a day to San Francisco's hungry.
Nice little video that Aurelia Santos and Dianna Garrett at Center for Elders' Independence just finished. CEI, the East Bay's premier PACE organization recently adopted a new charter statement and are using this video to publicize it now.
During the pandemic I upgraded all my equipment and started adding videography to my skill set. Aurelia did the directing and editing. It's four minutes, let me know what you think.
KQED has a great lineup of live events with scientists, artists, muscians, political leaders, restraurateurs, vinters, comedians - well you get the idea - all sorts of interesting folks.
WHHS is a full sevice medical system serving residents of Fremont and the surrounding areas. Proud to be part of their communications team.
I've always enjoyed the compassion of commitment of the staff and the resilence of the Jewish Home's residents. We've worked together for almost twenty years and each year seems to be better than the last!
San Francisco's Department of Children, Youth and Their Families provides funding for services and programs for those in need. I helped them document and illustrate their recent Community Needs Assessment.
It was sometime in the early 1990's that I did my first shoot for Glide. Now thirty years later and in honor of National Photography Month I'm turning the camera on myself. Working at Glide has been a blessing and my life as a result has been filled with prosperity and LOVE.
